The measure guide refers to our Single Easy Picket Gates; both 65mm and 100mm slat sizes.
Measuring Your New SecOnline Gate
To measure for your new SecOnline Gate, you’ll need:
A good quality tape measure
Pen and paper (to record measurements)
We don’t recommend bending the tape measure. Instead, use the tape lock and (if needed) add the tape body length onto your measurement.
Steps
Step 1: Fixing (how your gate will be supported)
Start by deciding what your gate will be fixed to on either side. You have two options:
Option A: Add poles (supplied by SecOnline)
We can supply 1 or 2 poles for your gate to be fixed to. These can either be:
Supported by an existing wall/fence, or
Cemented into the ground
You can add poles in Step 1 of the measure process in the SecOnline product builder. Select “Yes” and follow the prompts.
The builder will ask how you intend to install the poles:
Attach to wall/ground: we’ll cut the pole to match the gate height from ground level.
Concrete into the ground: we’ll cut the pole with an extra 600mm length so it can be set into the ground (you can trim this down if required for your ground conditions).
Option B: Fix to an existing wall or fence
Alternatively, you can fix the gate directly to an existing wall or fence.
Please note: the structure must be strong enough to support the weight of the gate (our gates range between 15kg and 40kg).
If you prefer this option and don’t require poles, select “No” in Step 1 of the SecOnline product builder and proceed straight to width measurements.
Step 2: Width
To measure the width, measure the full opening width where the gate will be installed and enter this measurement into the SecOnline product builder.
The builder will automatically:
Deduct 40mm to allow for hinge and latch clearances
Deduct the required allowance for pole/s (if selected in Step 1)

Step 3: Height
To measure the height, measure from the ground to the desired height of your gate, and enter this measurement into the SecOnline product builder.
By default, the product builder will apply a 40mm deduction to your height measurement for the gap underneath the gate.
You can change the height of this gap if required using the dropdown; alternative options are 80mm or 120mm.

Step 4: Pole Height
For the final step, the product builder will automatically calculate your pole height, based off the height of your gate, the nominated gap underneath the gate and the instructions given in step 1.
If you elected to concrete your pole into the ground, you can edit the measurement if required.
From there, click next and proceed to check out and payment.
Final tips
We recommend taking all measurements twice.
If you get different measurements, have someone double-check them for you.
