The measure guide refers to our Double Easy Picket Gates; both 65mm and 100mm slat sizes.
Measuring Your Double Easy Picket Gates
To measure for your new Double (French) Easy Picket Gates, you’ll need:
A good quality tape measure
Pen and paper (to record your measurements)
We don’t recommend bending the tape measure. Instead, use the tape lock and (if needed) add the tape body length onto your measurement.
Step 1: Fixing (how your gate will be supported)
Start by deciding what each side of your gate will be fixed to. There are two options:
Option A: Add poles (supplied by SecOnline)
We can supply 1 or 2 poles for your gate to be fixed to.
Poles can be added in Step 1 of the measure process in the SecOnline product builder. Select “Yes” and follow the prompts.
The builder will ask how you intend to install these poles:
Attach to wall/ground: we’ll cut your pole so it matches the height of the gate from ground level.
Concrete into the ground: we’ll cut your pole/s with an extra 600mm length so it can be set into the ground (this can be trimmed if needed for your ground conditions).
Tip: Double gates generally require solid fixing points on both sides. If you don’t have strong existing posts/walls, we recommend adding poles.
Option B: Fix to an existing wall or fence
Alternatively, you can fix your double gate to an existing wall, fence, or structural posts.
Please note: the structure must be strong enough to support the weight of the gate (our gates range between 15kg and 40kg each).
If you don’t require poles, select “No” in Step 1 of the measure process and proceed to the width measurement step.
Step 2: Width (the full opening)
Measure the full opening width where the double gate will be installed and enter this measurement into the SecOnline product builder.
The builder will automatically
Deduct 60mm to allow for the latch and hinges
Deduct the required allowance for pole/s (if selected in Step 1)
Divide your final measurement by two, to determine the width of the left and right gate.

Step 3: Height
Measure from the ground to the desired finished height of your gate and enter this into the product builder.
By default, the builder will apply a 40mm deduction to your height measurement for the gap underneath the gate.
You can change the height of this gap if required using the dropdown; alternative options are 80mm or 120mm.
The builder will use the final measurement for both the left and right gate.

Step 4: Pole Height
For the final step, the product builder will automatically calculate your pole height, based off the height of your gate, the nomintaed gap under the gap and the instructions given in step 1.
If you elect to concrete your pole into the ground, you can edit this measurement if required.
From there, click next and proceed to check out and payment.
Final Tips
Take all measurements twice.
If you get different measurements, have someone double-check them.
