What’s Included

• Gate panel

• Gate post/s (if selected) - unattached with fitting instructions.

• Hinges and hinge packers - supplied unattached with fitting instructions.

• Latch (if selected) - unattached with fitting instructions.

What You’ll Need

• Tape measure and spirit level

• Drill and appropriate drill bits

• Fixings suitable for your surface (concrete, masonry, timber, steel)

• Shovel or post hole digger (for in-ground installation option)

• Concrete mix (for in-ground installation option)

• Spanner/socket set

• Pencil or marker

Step 1: Measure & Position

• Measure the opening width and confirm the gate sizes are correct.

• Determine your hinge side and swing direction.

• Mark the final position of the gates and posts on the ground and/or wall, allowing for the required clearance under the gates (40, 80 or 120 mm) to ensure the gate is installed at your desired height. If installing posts, please note they are 50 x 50 mm.

• Finally check all surfaces are level and plumb — accurate positioning here will make installation much easier.

Step 2: Install Gate posts

There are two installation methods. Choose the option that suits your site.

Option A: Install Posts into the Ground (concreted)

A couple of things to note:

• Concrete is not supplied and must be purchased separately. We recommend selecting your concrete based on ground/soil conditions — further guidance is here. 

• Gate posts are typically supplied to match the height of the gate panel plus the nominated gap for clearance underneath the gate (40, 80 or 120 mm). For in-ground installations, posts include an additional 600 mm to allow embedding into the ground. Depending on your ground conditions and finished height requirements, posts can be cut down prior to installation. Always confirm final levels before cutting and concreting posts in place.

Steps

• Dig post holes to a suitable depth (typically 450–600mm, depending on ground conditions and the height of you gates).

• Place the posts into the holes and brace temporarily.

• Check that the posts are perfectly plumb, correctly spaced, and vertically aligned for the gate panels.

• Pour concrete around the posts and allow it to cure fully before hanging the gates (follow concrete manufacturer’s curing times). It is fully extremely important to ensure the concrete is fully cured and the post is secured before attaching the gates.

We also recommend fixing the post to the side wall of fence (instructions below) for extra stability - particularly for oversized gates. Alternatively, angle can be selected as an add-on in our Product builder and can be used to secure your post to a side-wall or fence. Corner brackets can also be used.

• Pre-drill fixing holes through the post then secure the post to the side wall or structure using suitable screws/fixings for your wall or surface. You will need to drill a larger hole on the gate side of the pole and a smaller hole on the wall side, allowing the screw to pass through the pole and anchor into the wall. Hole sizes will vary depending on the screw or fixing selected to suit your wall or surface.

• Double-check alignment before fully tightening all fixings.

• Fit metal top cap to the top of the post/s

Option B: Fix posts to Ground (Surface Mount)

This option uses a concealed post connector for the base of the posts to be fixed to the ground. The length of the post is then fixed to an adjacent wall or structure.

• Position the concealed post connector on the ground and mark the fixing points.

• Secure the concealed post connector to the ground using appropriate fixings for concrete, timber, or paving.

• Insert the post over the concealed post connector and ensure it is plumb.

• Pre-drill fixing holes through the post then secure the post to the side wall or structure using suitable screws/fixings for your wall or surface. You will need to drill a larger hole on the gate side of the pole and a smaller hole on the wall side, allowing the screw to pass through the pole and anchor into the wall. Hole sizes will vary depending on the screw or fixing selected to suit your wall or surface.

• Double-check alignment before fully tightening all fixings.

• Fit metal top cap to the top of the post/s

Step 3: Install Hinges & Latch

Hinges and latches vary depending on the option selected.

• Install hinges and latch at your desired height following the specific instructions included with your hinge and latch hardware, these vary depending upon your product selection. 

• Ensure hinges are aligned and level to prevent gate sag or binding.

Step 4: Hang the Gates

• Attach the gate panel to the hinges following the manufacturers installation instructions provided.

• Check swing clearance and ensure smooth opening and closing; adjust hinge positions if required.

• Tighten all fixings once the gate is operating correctly.

Step 5: Final Checks

• Confirm the gate swings freely without rubbing.

• Check latch alignment and operation.

• Ensure all fixings are tight and secure.

• Re-check level and plumb after installation.

Important Notes

• Always use fixings appropriate for your surface type.

• Concrete curing times must be observed before hanging the gate.

• If installing near edges of concrete or masonry, take care to avoid cracking.

• If you’re unsure at any stage, consult a qualified tradesperson.
