The measure guide refers to our TOUGH and Diamond +Fly Window screen products; for Fly screens please see the "How to Measure a Fly Screen" article.

IMPORTANT - MEASURE YOUR RECESS BEFORE YOU ORDER!

11 mm frames only fit recesses wider than 11 mm, Seconline will not replace screens ordered with the incorrect frame as they must be completely remade with all new stock.

Steps:

  1. Measure widths

  2. Measure height

Recess fix: We do not recommend recess fixing security screens or diamond window screens. Our standard window grille frame is 11 mm thick at the outer wall, they may be fitted into the same recess on a window as a fly screen however they will not bend like a fly screen and as such can be difficult to install in this way. If you do decide the install the screen this way they can then be fixed in place by riveting or screwing to the window recess either internally or externally.

Face fix: The window screens can be simply fitted to the face of the window frame either internally or externally by drilling through the frame of the window surround and screwing or riveting in place. This is the recommended method of fitting security window screens and diamond screens. Great care must be given to not interfere with the operation of the window's action, E.g. Window spirals etc.

Two Measure Options are available:

Option 1: Measure your existing window screen

Measure an existing screen: If you have existing screens and they are a good fit, then the easiest way to measure for new ones is to remeasure your old ones, ensure that you measure the width of the frame, if the width of the frame is less than 11 mm you should face fit the screen.

Note: Do not take measurements from the centre in case the screen is bowed.

Screen Width: Measure from the outer edge of the frame top and bottom, record the smallest measurement. Note: There should be maximum of 3 mm variation in the two lengths, if the variation is greater contact us to discuss solutions 1300 735 405.

Screen Height: Measure the height left and right, record the smallest measurement.

Frame Width: Using a solid ruler measure the width of your window frame, if this frame width is less than 11 mm you should face fit the screen.

Option 2: Measure for a new window screen

1. How to measure for a new screen - Face fixed

Note: The safest method of measuring is to fit the screen to the face of the window and this is sometimes the only option. You would then drill through the frame of the window surround, and screw or rivet in place.

Screen Width: Measure the recess top and bottom, record the smallest measurement.

Screen Height: Measure the height left and right, record the smallest measurement.

2. How to measure for a new screen - Recess Fixed (1.1)

Note: Our standard window grille frame is 11 mm thick at the outer wall, they may be fitted into the same recess on a window as a fly screen however they will not bend like a fly screen and as such can be difficult to install in this way and we do not recommend this method. Screen Width: Measure inside the recess of windows where screen will be located, top and bottom then deduct 2-3 mm to allow fitting clearance and record the smallest measurement.

Screen Height: Measure inside recess of windows where screen will be located, left and right then deduct 2-3 mm to allow fitting clearance and record the smallest measurement.

Recess Width: Using a solid ruler measure the width of your recess, advise us when placing your order if your recess width is less than 11 mm.
